~Hike to Big Rock~

Everyone seems to have gone out of town for Memorial Day weekend, so we decided that we needed to do something fun with the kids, so they didn't get bored.  We decided to go on a family hike to Big Rock (Hunter needed to go on a hike for scouts).  I have not been to Big Rock before (funny since I grew up here in North Ogden), and didn't realize what kind of hike it was.  If I'd known, we probably wouldn't have gone on this particular hike being that we had Garrett to carry and Lexi with us.  It was quite the workout!
Mckell's all pumped up for the hike.
I started the hike by carrying Garrett.  I thought it would be a great workout.  Well, I didn't have him for long.  Luckily Dave was a good sport and took him from me.  I wouldn't have made it otherwise.
Stopping half way up to check out the view.

The trail really got steep.
Hunter and Marley beat us all to Big Rock.
This is how Dave ended our hike.  Carrying both Garrett and Lexi.  I honestly don't know how he did it.  I was dying just getting myself up and down from Big Rock.
Even though I'm sore from the hike, it was fun to spend time with the family.  This morning Lexi woke up crying that her legs hurt, lol.  I guess I'm not the only one sore from our family hike. :)

~School's Out!~

It is so funny how Hunter and Mckell are so different.  When you would even talk about school being out soon, Mckell would cover her ears and not want to talk about it.  She didn't want school to end.  Hunter on the other hand, couldn't have been more excited.  Another school year is officially over, and we are ready for summer!
Mckell with her teacher, Mrs. Powell.  We have loved having Mrs. Powell as a teacher.  She has been a long time family friend (my next door neighbor growing up), and such a sweet teacher.  Mckell has LOVED being in her class.  Mrs. Powell always made Mckell feel so good about herself.  Mckell has loved making new friends this year, and loved getting ready for the programs they did (she loves to perform, lol).  2nd Grade has been a GREAT year!
Hunter with his teacher, Mrs. Pacheco.  Mrs. Pacheco was also a neighbor I had growing up (too funny).  Hunter has also liked making new friends this year.  He liked learning about Utah History (especially the mountain men).  We will have to take lots of day trips around the state to further learn about our state.  That will be something good to do over the summer.  He also said he'll remember the fun class parties they had in 4th grade.
Our carpool group on the last day of school.  Notice Mckell has a frown on her face :) She does not want school to be over!  Grace will be moving on to Jr High, so she will no longer be part of our carpool.  The kids grow way too fast!
We had to celebrate the last day of school with a treat.  We stopped by Kirt's on the way home for an ice cream.

Let the summer fun begin!

~The Redhawks~

Hunters comp basketball team took 2nd place in their Weber County League.  They had fun playing and it was fun watching them.  Way to go Redhawks!
We are missing Jace (who had to run right as the game ended to soccer tryouts), and Rexton and Brex (who were on a vacation with their grandparents).

~End of Year Awards~

End of the year, brings awards assemblies.  Mckell received an award for Language Arts.
And Hunter received an award for Reading.
Hunter's grade sang several songs about Utah History, which was fun to watch because they had a lot of dance moves in the songs.  I'm proud of Hunter and Mckell.  They are good kids!

~All-Star Game~

Hunter and Cannon were asked to play in an All-Star basketball game.  They had a lot of fun, and their team won!

Way to go Boys!

~School is out for Lexi~

Lexi had her last day of school on Tuesday.  She was a bit sad because she LOVES her teacher Ms Jodie and she loves her school.
Some of her favorite things about this year at preschool were:
  • Favorite friend- Melyn
  • Favorite field trip- The Treehouse & Pizza Man
  • Favorite toy to play with during free time- Polly Pockets
  • Favorite activity- swimming party
  • Favorite part of school day- snack time
  • What Lexi will remember about Ms Jodie-  She is nice and has lots of fun things at her house.
Lexi has loved going to " A Child's Image" preschool, and is excited to continue on with Ms Jodie at her new preschool.

~Poetry Throughout the Year~

Mckell's class had a special program for us parents.  They recited all the poetry they learned throughout the school year.  It was a darling program.  Mrs. Powell truly went above and beyond the call of duty to prepare for this program  The kids did GREAT!
Mckell with her body art.
Mrs. Powell introducing Mckell.  Mrs. Powell had written a poem to intoduce all of the students in her class (I wish I would have written down what she said about Mckell).
I know this picture is blurry, but this is all I could get of Mckell as a witch.  I really liked that each child had several parts in this program.  Usually when you have a program, each child has 1 part, but with this class program each child did several things, which was fun.  Mckell was an excellent witch!  Her facial expressions cracked me up, as she went around scaring her classmates while they recited a poem about a witch. Too cute!
Mckell reciting a poem called "Picking Pumpkins"
Mckell was able to show us a Frog and Toad Readers Theater that she made, as well as a poetry book.  They have been busy this year.  It was fun to see all that they have done.  Second grade has been a great year.  We were so lucky to have Mrs. Powell as a teacher!

~I Belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints~

Mckell was baptised on Saturday, May 11.  It was such a special day!  She is such a sweet, kind, beautiful young lady who made us very proud by choosing to be baptised.  Mckell is such a GREAT example to all of us on how we need to be more like Christ.  She teaches Lexi about gospel principles, reminds us that Monday night is family night, makes sure that we read our scriptures and say prayers, and wants to make sure everyone is included and loved.  We love you, Mckell!

The place where she was baptised, our church.
I am so grateful for a husband who honors his priesthood and is worthy to give such great gifts to our children.  Dave is a GREAT dad!

We had a pillowcase for everyone who was there to write a comment.  It will be something Mckell can have forever to remember her baptism day.
Lexi's job was to pass out the programs.
Mckell had so many people there to share in her special day.  The Relief Society room was full.  I hope she realizes how blessed she is to have so many people who love her :)
We had a luncheon at our house afterwards.  One of Mckells good friend's mother made Mckell a very special rainbow cake for her baptism.  It turned out beautiful!  Thanks Amity!
It was the perfect day!
