We began our summer vacation this year with a camping trip to Strawberry. When the kids got home from school Friday, we headed out for the weekend with our friends, the Fullmers. It was a little chilly, but we had fun. The kids had fun canoeing, playing horseshoes, riding bikes, playing games, and fishing.
One of the highlights of the trip was fishing for crawfish. Everyone gave it a try, and we ending up catching quite a few.
At first, Mckell wasn't so sure if she liked catching the crawfish. They look like giant bugs, but after awhile she really got the hang of it.
The crawfish were still a little lethargic because of the cold. Dave caught quite a few by just reaching in and pulling them right out of the water.
Dave was the camp chef.
Mckell LOVED eating the crawfish. Lexi and Hunter both tried it, but ended up spitting it out. :) I even tried it, and I hate fish.
When we woke up Monday morning, Memorial Day, we had a surprise outside.
SNOW!!!!!!
This camping trip was a good way to start our summer vacation. Although, we could have done it without the snow, lol.

funny thing that we were up at strawberry at the same time!! it does look a lot like the same campground. jared and i even took a drive around the other campgrounds. too bad we didn't see each other. we camp up at strawberry every memorial day but we usually stay up in aspen grove on the other side of the lake. we actually really liked the campgrounds on the strawberry side. it was nice to be so close to the water.
we saw some families trying to catch crawdads. i told jared it would be fun to let the kids try it but we didn't get a chance too. we will have to try next time. glad to see that the weather didn't dampen your trip so much.
